Christmas is over, the decorations are just about put away – there will always be one decoration that just never seems to make it to the box, and now I should be able to find my sewing room once again. I trust everyone had a wonderful holiday and are now getting back into the swing of things. We are now under-going a bathroom renovation and deciding on tiles, paint etc. It is just like starting a new quilt project. I think I like choosing fabric better! . |
Sewing machine oil Check with your manual, but most sewing machines need a drop of oil now and again. We have the handy zoom spout oil bottle, with the handy long nozzle, for only $3.50 bottle. |
After our boxing day sales our shelves are looking a bit bare and we are anxiously awaiting the new arrivals. Soon to be coming to our shelves 1862 Battle Hymn by Barbara Brackman - This reproduction fabric line remembers the first full year of Civil War, its battles and losses. Muted colors recall the mood of mourning. The original prints date from mid to late 19th-century, many drawn from an 1860s mill sample book. Reunion by Sweetwater - One of the main colors in the collection is navy and it is paired with grey and the happy shades of green, yellow and red make it come to life. A little bit retro.

Mystery Bus Tour 2011 |
Many of you have tried the Disappearing Nine Patch blocks where you take 5” squares and sew them together in a nine patch arrangement. Then cut down the centre and across the middle to create 4 new blocks. Rotate two opposite blocks and sew together to form a new block. Now we also have the four patch switch. Make the four patch blocks, again using 5” squares – charm squares work great - and then cut 1” from each side of the centre seam both vertically and horizontally. Rotate the 4 small pieces and resew the block back together. |
