10" SQUARE FABRIC CAKES ARE A PERFECT SIZE TO MAKE A QUICK QUILT.
I am taking a few minutes out of my Olympic watching time to finish off the newsletter. As I type this newsletter, Canada has won a number of medals including our first Gold! I hope those of you who have made a special Olympic quilt are enjoying curling up with it as you watch the games.

Tony has been busy in the workshop in January and February since there has been very little snow to plow. We can be thankful for this for a number of reasons, but I particularly liked it because he has had time to build new shelves for the store. If you haven’t been in yet to see the shelves, you’ll be impressed! The floor space is much more open and many of you have commented on how bright it looks now.

Kaffe Fassett

We may not always pronounce his name correctly, but we sure do love his fabric. Bright bold colours are perfect to chase away the winter blahs. The spring collection is now in and features lots of new prints. We also have fat quarter packs, jelly rolls and charms should be arriving soon. His newest book Quilt Romance is in and the photographs are so inspiring. Most quilts are quite simple to put together - here’s your chance to get out of the box with colours you may not usually work with!

Her newest table runner, Forever Yours features the double wedding ring.

Have you seen the new food fabrics yet? They are so much fun - French fries, licorice, ice cream cones, pickles to name just a few of the various fabrics in the collection.
We have packs of charm squares containing 36 5” squares, fat quarter bundles and single fat quarters. Wanda’s pattern Roadside Stand would be a perfect quilt to use this fabric. (we also still have charm rolls with fruits and veggies too!) |

Tumbling Blocks the Quiltsmart Way
Tumbling blocks have always been popular and quiltsmart has just made it even easier. Join 2 1/2” strips together and lay onto the fusible grid. Sew, trim and turn and place it on a black background. Continue adding rows and the black background becomes one side of the tumbling block. Fuse, stitch and quilt! Watch for a class this spring. www.quiltsmart.com

Circling the Stars is a terrific quilt from Karen McCleary.
Take an informative workshop with this well know and respected teacher. Dive into your stash for a scrappy look or pick three fabrics from some of our newest collections. Two sizes are available to make. Sample quilt is in the store.
Class starts March 8th.

Blue Stencil Clearance
We have a wonderful selection of quilting stencils but I need to reduce inventory on them. The blue stencils are now just $1.00 each - hurry in for best selection.
These stencils can be used for hand or machine quilting. One of the most popular ways for transferring the design onto your quilt is to use “Pounce” The Miracle Chalk Powder. Just swipe the brush over your stencil and the white powder image remains on your quilt. When you have finished quilting, if the lines are still there, just take a hot iron and the marks are gone! It is now available in blue powder too and it just washes away.
